We are writing this letter of testimonial on behalf of Lori Christie our real estate agent in the purchase of the Woodcock Rd. property. When we first met Lori we were immediately impressed with her professionalism, attention to detail and a great sense of humor. She took the time to show us several homes in the Sequim area while sharing with us some demographic, weather, local and regional history and events information. She was also available to answer any questions we had regarding purchasing a home. When we finally decided on the Woodcock property Lori was instrumental that everything went as smoothly as possible up until closing. We met Lori on our first visit to Sequim July 2014. Our intention was to get to know the area, decide if we liked it as a retirement destination and look at some lots to get a feel for the local real estate picture. If everything looked good then maybe we'd think about buying. We ended up falling in love with Sequim and found a property that met the vast majority of our long laundry list of "gotta haves". We only had four days in Sequim and Lori was available at all times for us. She was ever cheerful, always helpful, dependably knowledgeable...and if she didn't know something she fully researched the answer for us right away...and worked her craft with an attention to detail rarely found. Her people skills are fabulous and that opened the door to important information from sellers and neighbors we would not have been able to obtain on our own...or even have known to ask about. Lori's follow up was top notch and that's hugely valuable in ensuring a good outcome. She worked tirelessly to protect our interests and we ended up with a beautiful property at a good price....and a new friend. :-) In our opinion, buying property in Sequim as a non-resident absolutely requires an expert at the wheel and Lori has our vote hands down.
My parents lived in Sequim, Washington. I live in Orem, Utah. Mom and Dad were becoming feeble and immobile, so they decided to move to Utah to be closer to us, their kids, so that we could take better care of them. That meant selling their Sequim house, but since they weren't able to handle the rigors that go with selling, the task was left to me, their oldest. But I couldn't afford to make repeated trips to and from Washington just to take care of a small detail here and a signature there, so I had to take on that beast remotely. Enter Lori Christie.
From the first time I met Lori on the phone (to this day we have never met face-to-face), I knew she was going to be on our side, to fight our Washington battles by being our eyes and ears for the sale of my parents' house. Lori kept in touch by email and text, always including me in the loop when anything came up, and they certainly did. We needed to rid the place of cat odor, and we had to make several minor home repairs and upgrades, but in all cases, Lori handled the contractor locating, inspection, and payment of these folks seamlessly, bringing us a ton of relief from worry about them. Eventually she found a good buyer, and we were in good hands.
Then the unthinkable happened: my parents both passed away, first my mother, then my father just eight days later. At first, we couldn't think much about selling houses, with grief, funeral, and arrangements on our minds. Also, although I had Power of Attorney for them while they were alive, that no longer worked after their death, and we were left without a way to close on the sale of the house, and we did not want the house to go to Probate. Once again Lori came to the rescue by locating a local attorney who was able to advise us on how to proceed with our little dilemma and fill in many gaps while we were distracted. Under her direction, I eventually got all my living siblings together and signed the closing papers and fulfilled all our obligations regarding my parents' house in Sequim. We honestly could NOT have done all of this without Lori's help and experience. The huge burden she helps lift off our shoulders was replaced by elation and gratitude for all of Lori's work. I for one am glad to have that entire episode behind us, but I'm certain we might still be battling that nightmare without Lori's knowledge, tireless effort, and persistent follow-up. I hope someday to meet Lori face-to-face and express my gratitude personally.
